The main purpose of Sanitary Valves is for sterilize processing and cleaning. If a valve is sanitary then it must not have any kind of cavities or crevices. The cavities and crevices trap bacteria which can multiply on their own.

They must have a polished wet surface. Moreover, the radius must be a minimum size to avoid the entrapping or media cleaning. Sanitary valves are having plastic, brass and other materials as their component. But people prefer using stainless steel. Some important types of sanitary valves are a 2-way ball, butterfly, and angle seat and 3-way ball valves.

Types of Sanitary Valves

  • 2-way ball valves– This kind of valve is very simple in nature. They are having a single outlet and single inlet. The name of the valve comes from the closure element or rounded ball which rotates for opening and closing of the valve. These valves are usually quarter turn activation. The will help in aligning the orifice present in the ball. 2-way valves direct the flow of media when it is open and blocks the flow when it is closed.

  • Butterfly valve– Butterfly valve helps in providing bi-directional service at the dead end. They find their uses in industrial and commercial service. It mainly isolates and helps in regulating the flow of the liquid. They are having similar operations as that of the ball valve. They represent their family of quarter turn valves. When the disc rotates or turns in a quarter than the valve fully opens and closes.
  • 3-way valves– The 3-way valves are basically a constant flow rate valve. They play a role in mixing and diverting the uses. The total flow rate never changes in case of these valves. These valves are basically having 3 connections with pipes and two connections with orifices. With the opening of one orifice the orifice gets closed and vice versa.

  • Angle seat valves– Angle seat valves get their control pneumatically. The piston actuator provides the linear actuation for lifting the seal of a seat. When the seat is in an unseated position it is set at an angle for providing the maximum flow. They find their uses mainly in places of high temperatures. They also find their uses where there is a requirement of large flow.
